Friday Night menu
A local cafe had approached me in regards to designing their Friday night menu, with the intention for the designs to be cohesive with their pre-existing assets created such as their promotional flyers and bar menu. I had previously created this cafe/ restaurants previous ‘main menu’ following their current branding - however for this brief they wanted it be bright and playful to suit the mood of their new ‘Friday Nights’.

As mentioned previously, the cafe had already created assets to promote their Friday nights, they were only seeking to have a menu designed.
The client wanted to keep the designs within the same colour palette (with room to adjust the shades of the colour), from there I had a lot of freedom to experiment with the other design elements.
A huge part of their Friday night was their new cocktail menu, so I draw my own graphic pattern to use for the backdrop. From there I then designed the title, with ‘menu’ being a customised font (utilising rounded curves as the serifs).
From there I made the menu as simple as possible to promote optimum reading for the viewer, with emphasis on the hierarchy and additional elements such as the orange at the bottom to tie in and add balance to the colour palette and the background.
Finally, a grain/ film like texture was applied to the menu for a retro effect - which the client is a big fan of, this appeals to the younger demographic and gives the cafe the feeling of being cool/ trendy for their customers.
