Main Menu design

A local cafe had approached me in designing their main menu. They were seeking a simple design that will follow their current branding, utilising soft colours to compliment the content, ensuring the content was the main focus. Their previous menu had complains of being hard to read/ navigate so this brief really focused on type setting over the visual aesthetic of the overall menu.

  • The menu had a lot of content to fit, with the menus being sectioned off into food, drinks and catering - with each one sector per page. Because a small font was used, my focus was to ensure I established good hierarchy and type setting so the menu promotes an optimum reading experience for the client.

The client wants to use soft colours to keep the focus on the content, utilising lin art graphics similar to the ones on their previous menu. The colours were inspired by the cafe, with the green seen across the plants in the cafe swell as the blues seen across their kitchenware and mugs.

This menu would lead to further concepts and development of Ideas with the client in the future, such as the ‘steak sang’ poster viewed to the left.

Selling high quality food, coffee, wine, beer and cocktails.

A small knit cafe that is situated in Yatala’s industrial area, right beside the highway - appealing to many customers such as the business in the area, locals and travellers passing by.

A promotional poster designed in conjunction with the main menu, to promote one of their older items while the new menu rolls out. This uses the same style as the menu, with customised fonts and graphics. Ensuring this style was cohesive with the menu created.
